ÁO DÀRK

Summer – 2020

Four-pieces tuxedo in black monochrome, vietnamese inspiration.
I am revisiting traditional Vietnamese garments in their shape, especially AO DAI’s. I designed a pattern based on superimposed pictures of cliffs and rice fields which I printed.I worked with laser-cutting on velvet, textile printing on veiling and 3D printing on buttons. I intended to transcend color by material. The set is a game of accumulations around the body. The cardigan is composed of three independent pieces that tie themselves together with the help of laced strings. The jacket has removable facets on sleeves and waist insert. Accumulation of fabrics shaping into a necklace constitutes a removable collar that can be unfold to cover the face.
