EXPERIENCE

Fall – Winter 2020 – 2021

In this clothing collection, I am speaking of the concept of experimentation. Experimentation is a process by which every artist must go through to push the boundaries of his art. It allows him to question the main achievements of a discipline, or to rely on them to move forward. Experiences enable the artist to find an axis to which he can experiment. They give him a chance to foresee a will for performance, therefore to identify an experimental process to achieve this desire, this aim. An experimental process can also lead an artist to discover new approaches to his work that were unexpected. That is the strength of this research. The concept of openness is primordial to the artist’s creativity. This way he may be in a constant renewal while preserving his artistic identity.

This is what I attempted to highlight during the imagination then  execution of my collection. The search for new techniques and ideas that I led gave me access to concepts I didn’t know about before getting into this creative process. The final result is an amalgam of elements I brought in the first place, and those discovered along the way. My experiences are expressing themselves through patterns : inspired by my dad’s paintings, also through the reinterpretation of concepts I designed in the past, instinctive senses like the shape of one of the outfits that appeared to me in a dream. The research finds itself in the experimentation around material and shapes. The methodology employed to create fleece was designed in collaboration with ENSAIT School. It is a process that we imaginated in order to create a pattern from recycled fabrics. I experimented with different methods of hand-dyeing before choosing three of them definitively, permitting me to obtain the expected effects, as well as be water efficient. I used alternative leather produced of bacterial cellulose, created in collaboration with ENSAIT School and on which I performed patterns with the aid of sustainable pigments. Through the development of my collection , I was able to rediscover and reinvent myself.
