THE PRIESTESS

Spring – Summer 2018

Appropriation of Delpozo’s aesthetic, Ply and Stitch trends.
Reinterpretation of clerical clothing in reference to Moebius. This dress depicts a hypothetical matriarchal religion. It entails simplicity in shapes, to show equality within order, while conveying the impression of might and majesty proper to religious clothing. I want to give to women who wear it an influential and strongly charismatic aura. The accumulation of diverse materials gives a mystical aspect to the whole garment by wrapping the body. The veil that covers the eyes highlights the depersonification and obscurantism some cults may carry.

Thereafter I chose to tear the cloth apart. For me it was a symbol of renewal over my creations. This is the first outfit I designed, and I detach myself from preconceived ideas about fashion by the way of its destruction. It’s a step towards maturity, which allows me to break free from the «cult of creation». This gown is about worship, and its destruction strongly resound in the vision I have of the world. This makes a mockery of the strict image reflected by certain cults, and a step forward acceptance of one’s self and others.

Clothes don’t last, only the body remains.
